Plywood

About craft and material

Plywood is a laminate, made by using thin layers of wood veneer sheets which are glued and stacked together. It is considered a very flexible and strong material which makes it a common choice in the construction and furniture industry.

Plywood is also easy to cut in shapes and to fabricate into curved surfaces. The desired forms can be readily fabricated by utilising a vacuum press or autoclave. Any kind of paint or polish can be applied to plywood without inconveniences. All the while, it is less susceptible to water damage than MDF and resistant to shrinking, warping, twisting and cracking.

We have decided to use plywood for our Woodplate Coffee Table trays because, apart from its durability, it has all of the already mentioned advantages. It is available in different thickness options allowing us to select the proper ones for each individual piece.
